Professional Interests

Jason Piccone, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at NSU's College of Psychology. He is a social psychologist interested in a broad range of research topics. He is currently studying the congruence of mate-value perceptions among romantic couples and objective raters. He is also exploring advanced statistical modeling procedures to solve both experimental and big-data issues. One such application is the use of propensity score matching to mimic randomization, thus enhancing the efficacy of program evaluations where randomization is otherwise not possible. Additionally, Dr. Piccone is currently or has recently engaged in research regarding the skin-tone bias in perceptions of Black women, dehumanization towards Black and Muslim Americans, and the motivations to adopt paranormal beliefs.
