Professional Interests

Cierra Davis, Ph.D., NCC, LPC, earned her doctorate from James Madison University’s Counseling and Supervision program in 2018. She was a 2018 National Board of Certified Counselors MFP Fellow and a Virginia Counselor’s Association Pete Warren Fellow. She received a grant from the Virginia Association for Counselor Education and Supervision for research on church mentoring programs. She is a licensed professional counselor and board-certified counselor with training and experience in the areas of counseling, supervision, teaching, and student affairs.

Her research interests include mentorship with an emphasis on mentorship for students of color, recruitment and retention of marginalized students in higher education, spirituality with a focus on the role of the Black Church and its role in wellness/mental health, group therapy, Black Greek life, self-care for helpers, and culturally competent supervision strategies.
