Professional Interests

Dr. Emily J. Georgia-Salivar’s research seeks to improve relationship functioning by elucidating the role of traumatic events on dyadic adjustment, examining couples’ helpseeking behaviors, and investigating the impact of flexibly-delivered couple interventions, specifically among under-served groups. Her current projects aim to uncover individual and dyadic associations of anxiety and relationship functioning among distressed, low-income couples. Dr. Georgia-Salivar received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Iowa in 2008, and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Miami in 2017. Her work has been funded by the Administration for Children and Families, through the University of Miami College of Liberal Arts, and recognized by Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, and ABCT Couples Special Interest Group.
