Top Five Things to Know About Financial Aid

FAFSA

Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is crucial if you are interested in any form of need-based financial assistance. Applying will help you make your educational choices.

Eligibility is key

Even if you think you may not qualify, you should still submit the forms. Make sure you have your social security number, driver’s license number, federal tax information (including parents’ or spouse’s, if applicable), records of untaxed income, bank account, investment and real estate asset information on hand.

Financial aid comes in all shapes and sizes

FAFSA can give you access to grants, scholarships, work-study jobs and loans. The sooner you submit your application, the more money you may be eligible for when it comes to federal and state grants.

Completing the FAFSA is convenient

The process is accessible through the government site. You can also download the FAFSA mobile app.

A renewed FAFSA can help you year after year

You must submit a FAFSA form every school year that you want to be considered for federal student aid. The FAFSA can be filled out as early as Jan. 1 of the year you will be attending college and submitted beginning October 1.
