Professional Interests

Dr. Justin Maki is a graduate of Auburn University in Alabama, where he earned his Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. He holds a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling with concentrations in eating disorders and alcohol and other drug abuse, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Spanish, all from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Dr. Maki has worked in higher education as an academic advisor, career counselor, and educator. His research interests include LGBTQ issues in counseling, emotional intelligence, and career-life balance. Dr. Maki has delivered over 18 presentations in recent years at national, regional, and state conferences primarily related to LGBTQ issues and serves as the Florida Counseling Association’s LGBTQ Concerns Chairperson.
