Under your concentration on this page, check all required courses you have or will complete prior to the beginning of the practicum. Select NOT APPLICABLE to concentrations that do not apply.

In addition to completing the required prerequisites for your concentration, you are required to complete HIPAA training and submit your certificate of completion to your PYCL 0570 Ethical, Legal and Professional Issues for Counselors instructor.

Candidates must complete their clinical experiences at two of the three different grade levels: elementary (PK-5), middle (6-8), or high (9-12). Please select your preference below.

*If choosing Part Time, you will be required to complete another Part Time Internship in the subsequent Winter or Fall term.

To be eligible for practicum, candidates must have been matriculated.

To be eligible for internship, candidates must have been matriculated and successfully completed the following course work. (The master's program administration will verify course work completion prior to the start of internship.)

  • PYCL 503 - Counseling Theories for School Counselors
  • PYCL 511 - Introduction to Counseling Techniques
  • PYCL 512 - Human Growth and Development
  • PYCL 515 - Principles of School Counseling
  • PYCL 550 - Contemporary Clinical Interventions
  • PYCL 571 - Ethical, Legal, and Professional Issues for School Counselors
  • PYCL 635 - Group Theory and Practice
  • PYCL 665 - School Consultation Skills
  • PYCL 685 - School Counseling Practicum (Grade B minus or better)
