Gesenia Sloan-Pena, Psy.D., is a licensed psychologist and Assistant Director of the Neuropsychology Assessment Center housed within NSU’s Psychology Services Center. Dr. Sloan-Pena is an alum of Northwestern University and obtained her master’s and doctoral degrees from Pepperdine University. Dr. Sloan-Pena also completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in neuropsychology. She is bilingual Spanish speaking and specializes in psychological and neuropsychological evaluations, including children beginning at 14 months of age, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.

Dr. Sloan-Pena has significant clinical experience in both outpatient and hospital facilities, evaluating individuals with TBI/concussion, strokes, neurocognitive disorders (e.g., Alzheimer’s disease), ADHD, learning disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, developmental delays, anxiety and depression, movement disorders (e.g., Parkinson’s disease), and various medical conditions including cancer and epilepsy.

Dr. Sloan-Pena is one of the few Spanish speaking neuropsychologists in the state of Florida. Her professional interests include forensic neuropsychological assessments (e.g., workers compensation, medical malpractice, birth injury and personal injury). Dr. Sloan-Pena is passionate about breaking down barriers to treatment for Latino children and their families as well as training and mentoring Latinx students in testing and assessment.
