Aleksandra Stanisavljevic, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of neuroscience in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Nova Southeastern University (NSU). She received her B.S. in Interdisciplinary Biology from Stony Brook University and her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences (pharmacology and toxicology, neuroscience focus) from the University of Rhode Island. Her doctoral work examined the impacts of thrombosis and hypertension in transgenic rat models of cerebral amyloid angiopathy.
As a postdoctoral fellow at the Nathan Kline Institute and NYU Langone, she established the methodology for digital spatial profiling of postmortem human brain tissue to investigate gene expression in post mortem human Layer III and Layer V pyramidal neurons.
At Nova Southeastern University, Stanisavljevic is establishing a spatial profiling research program focused on cellular-level genomics in mouse and human Alzheimer’s brain, with particular interest in vulnerable pyramidal neurons of the default mode network.
