Doctoral Internship Programs

South Florida Consortium Internship Program

The College of Psychology sponsors the South Florida Consortium Internship Program (SFCIP). The SFCIP provides training to psychology doctoral students who, in turn, provide psychological services to a vast array of clinically and culturally diverse populations within local community settings. The SFCIP is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association.

Psychology Services Center Internship Program

The Psychology Services Center (PSC) Internship Program offers doctoral candidates in psychology from any APA-accredited doctoral program the opportunity to develop proficiency in psychological assessment and psychotherapeutic interventions, and to acquire basic competence in the provision of supervision and consultation. The PSC Internship Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association.

Psychology Postdoctoral Residency

Established in 2004, Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU's) Psychology Postdoctoral Residency Program offers a comprehensive professional training experience involving a variety of multidisciplinary activities, including evidenced-based clinical intervention, research, teaching, supervision, program evaluation, and administration. The Psychology Postdoctoral Residency Program follows a scientist-practitioner model of training, and focuses on cultivating residents’ knowledge, skills, and overall professional identity. The program offers a variety of concentrations dedicated to general clinical practice as well as specialized areas of interest including autism, school psychology, and crisis prevention.

Rachel Chavez, Psy.D. Rachel Chavez, Psy.D.

Rachel Chavez, PsyD, graduated from the Florida Institute of Technology with her PsyD in Clinical Psychology and completed her APA-accredited internship at University of Miami’s Mailman Center for Child Development.

Currently, she is a postdoctoral psychology resident at NSU’s Unicorn Children’s Foundation’s Developmental Assessment Clinic, where she provides psycho-developmental evaluations for children 18 months to 7 years who are suspected of having an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or exhibit developmental delays. As a postdoctoral resident at NSU, Dr. Chavez also provides clinical supervision to doctoral-level students and serves as an adjunct professor for the clinical psychology doctoral program.

 

Yonghao Chen, Psy.D.

Yonghao Chen, Psy.D., is a postdoctoral resident at Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) Psychology Services Center (PSC), primarily serving within the Adult Services Program (ASP). Yonghao earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from NSU with a specialized concentration in psychodynamic psychotherapy. He completed his APA-accredited predoctoral internship at Southwest Behavioral & Health Services in Phoenix, Arizona, where he gained extensive experience working with highly diverse populations in a community mental health setting.

Yonghao believes that clinical humility is foundational to building a safe, trusting therapeutic alliance. He provides integrative psychotherapy tailored to each client's unique needs and expectations, with a professional focus on serving the general diverse population, particularly individuals from minority and marginalized communities. In addition to his clinical practice, he provides clinical supervision to doctoral-level students at NSU.

Jessica R. Feinstein, Psy.D., is a postdoctoral psychology resident at the School-related Psychological Assessments and Clinical Interventions (SPACI) Clinic. She graduated from NSU’s doctoral program in Clinical Psychology and completed her doctoral internship at the Faulk Center for Counseling in Boca Raton, Florida.

As a postdoctoral resident at NSU, Dr. Feinstein conducts comprehensive psychological evaluations for school-related academic, developmental, behavioral, and learning concerns. She also provides clinical supervision to doctoral-level students and serves as an adjunct professor in the Clinical Psychology doctoral program. Her professional interests include the assessment and diagnosis of neurodevelopmental disorders, particularly autism spectrum disorder, as well as child-centered play therapy.
