The NSU College of Psychology, Department of Psychology and Neuroscience is excited to offer a full-day training program for high school students passionately interested in neuroscience and ready to build their knowledge and lab-based skills. This experiential learning event will be offered from Monday, June 8 to Friday, June 12, 2026. At the conclusion of the training program (June 12th), we will showcase the achievements of the students during a luncheon for parents.
As part of the training program, students will participate in workshops led by NSU faculty-experts with demonstrations. Examples of these include:

- CRISPR gene editing with James Munoz, Ph.D.
- Brain Dissections with Allie Holschbach, Ph.D.
- EEG to measure brain activity with Mercedes Fernandez, Ph.D.
- ELISA to measure stress in saliva with Martinez-Lozada, Ph.D.
Students will:
- Work with esteemed professors, making the transition from high school to college less stressful
- Advance their skills in research, problem‐solving, and critical thinking
- Focus and Flee from a Neuroscience Escape Room
- Prepare to enter competitive undergraduate physical and social science programs
- Receive a certificate upon completion
The NSU 2026 Neuroscience Training Program is intended for high school students who will be entering their junior or senior year in Fall 2027. The number of participants will be kept small (~15) due to limited lab space and to facilitate individualized attention and optimal use of equipment. Trainees must be available to attend each of the daily sessions 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Students will be released early (at ~2pm) on Friday following the Luncheon.
The Neuroscience program fee is $450. This covers tuition, supervision, program materials & equipment, and a hosted luncheon with awards ceremony.
