The following resources are available to students in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience.

During the fall and winter semester, we hold the Psychology Major Professional Development Series. This a series of information sessions led by Psychology faculty, for Psychology majors (and minors) to learn about careers (both within and outside Psychology), applying to graduate school, and getting involved in research/internships.

The Nova Neuroscience Club is a club for NSU students interested in Neuroscience. You can reach them via their Facebook page or by contacting a member of the club.

Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology was founded in 1929 as a way for students working on research projects to get together and discuss their research. Since then, Psi Chi has grown to include many other functions such as community service and educational projects. The national chapter still holds research competitions and provides grants for its members. With over 800 chapters and thousands of members, Psi Chi is one of the largest and most respected honor societies in the country. It is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Psychological Society (APS). The society publishes both Eye on Psi Chi, a quarterly newsletter which unites members and recognizes their accomplishments, and the Psi Chi Journal of Psychological Research, which includes empirical research authored by Psi Chi members.

In addition to presenting at the NSU Undergraduate Student Symposium and International conferences around the United States, our students also present their research at some of the local research conferences listed below. Presenting your research is a fantastic learning opportunity and looks great on a resume and/or graduate school application. This is why we encourage our students to get involved!

Psychology Major

Below you will find a number of links (both internal and external) to information about careers in the field of Psychology. Psychology majors are uniquely qualified for a number of careers both within and outside the Psychology job field. Outside of the content areas of Psychology, Psychology majors also learn communication skills (both written and verbal), critical thinking skills, and most importantly, research skills (scientific methods and statistics). This combination of skills is unique to a Psychology major and learning how to highlight the skills and experiences you possess is critical to furthering your graduate school or career aspirations.
