Psi Chi is the international honor society in psychology. It was founded in 1929 to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship, as well as advance the science of psychology. Psi Chi has grown into one of the largest and most successful honor societies in the world, with over 1,000 chapters located at university campuses across the world. Membership in Psi Chi is recognized as an important accomplishment by employers, graduate schools, and government organizations.
Students who are eligible for membership are invited to join once a year in the fall semester. To qualify for Psi Chi, you must meet the criteria below (as of May in the year preceding the induction).
If you believe you meet these requirements, but haven't received an email invitation to join Psi Chi by the end of September, please contact Weylin Sternglanz, Ph.D., associate professor, at sterngla@nova.edu.
Students who qualify for Psi Chi are invited to an induction ceremony to recognize their outstanding academic achievement. Students receive a certificate and card certifying membership. Students may choose to purchase a Psi Chi stole to wear at commencement. The induction ceremony takes place each winter.
