Professional Interests

Peter Caproni, Ph.D., is a Florida licensed psychologist. After completing his clinical internship and post-doctoral year in the New York City area, he worked with Miami-Dade County Public Schools for 23 years, primarily in special programs for at-risk youth. He is a former president of the Dade Association of School Psychologists and served as their Chairperson for Professional Development for 15 years. Dr. Caproni maintains a small private practice in the Miami Lakes area, serving young people and their families.

In 2012, he was jointly appointed to NSU's School Psychology program as Assistant Professor and Doctoral Practicum Coordinator, and the NSU University School, where he serves as consulting and supervising psychologist. His current areas of interest include : school safety (with special focus on the needs of diverse students and students who identify as LGBTQ), post-traumatic growth, public policy advocacy, mindfulness, collaborative/therapeutic assessment, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and humanistic/existential psychotherapy.
