Professional Interests
Zila Martinez-Lozada, Ph. D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at NSU’s College of Psychology. Her research focuses on astrocytes and how their interactions with neurons and endothelial cells affect their biology. Dr. Martinez-Lozada is also interested in the molecular mechanisms involved in the formation and maintenance of the blood-brain barrier. She also examines the regulation of the expression of glutamate transporters.
