Dana Scott Mills

Dana Scott Mills, Ph.D., is the Director of the Ph.D. program in Educational Research and Evaluation at Nova Southeastern University’s Fischler College of Education. Prior to his most recent appointment, Dr. Mills served as the Executive Dean of Licensure, Compliance and State Relations and Associate Dean of Doctoral Studies. Dr. Mills began his career at NSU serving as a faculty member in the Applied Research Center. Prior to his tenure at NSU, Dr. Mills was a research assistant professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami. Dr. Mills also completed a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship through the National Institute on Drug Abuse at the Center for Treatment Research on Adolescent Drug Abuse at the University of Miami. Dr. Mills’ research interests are in the area of adolescent substance abuse treatment development, adolescent developmental psychopathology, and integrating evidence-based practice into community clinical services.  Dr. Mills has done consulting work with community-based organizations funded through Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Act and has served as an evaluation and program planning consultant to the Rhode Island Division of Substance Abuse.  He has published and conducted National trainings in evaluation and program planning and importing research-based interventions into community practice settings. Dr. Mills’ teaching interests lie in research design, univariate statistics, multivariate statistics, philosophy of science and qualitative research methods. Dr. Mills’ doctoral degree was earned in psychology from the University of Rhode Island.
