The NSU Department of Psychology and Neuroscience consists of undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty across the areas of Psychology and Neuroscience. The department prides itself on being student-centered and on offering numerous opportunities for students to learn outside a classroom environment. Our department has six research labs where students complete independent research and our programs have many connections to those working in Psychology and Neuroscience in the South Florida area.
The department contains two undergraduate majors (B.S. in Psychology and B.S. in Neuroscience) and three graduate programs (M.S. in Experimental Psychology, M.S. in General Psychology, and M.S. in Forensic Psychology). Our Psychology major is one of the original majors of Nova Southeastern University and one of the largest majors on campus (offered both online and on campus). Our Neuroscience major began accepting students in 2012 and has become one of the fastest growing and most popular majors in the time since then. The M.S. in Experimental Psychology program began in the fall of 2011 and in a short time has been very successful in preparing students for both clinical and experimental Ph.D. programs and jobs in research. The M.S. in General Psychology is a unique program, offered completely online and is designed to prepare students for application to other psychology programs, including doctoral studies. Finally, our M.S. in Forensic Psychology is also offered online and prepares students for work in a forensic setting, those applying to doctoral programs, and helps those looking to further their existing careers in law, mental health or other health settings.
